The Archaeology of the First World War on Teesside

WWI Archaeology

The focus of attention in relation to WWI is rightly drawn to the Western Front, however all regions of Britain also witnessed major changes as new facilities were built or were commandeered to further the war effort. This was particularly intense along the coast where aircraft, submarines, airships and artillery sought to fight off the threat to coastal shipping. The impact on the buildings and landscape of the area has not been studied in any detail and this talk will outline these hidden aspects of the First World War on Teesside.

Thorp Thewles History Group invites you to the Premier Presentation of 'The Archaeology of the First World War on Teesside' by Robin Daniels of Tees Archaeology at Grindon Parish Hall on Friday 21st February 2014 at 7.15 pm.

Tickets cost £3.00 each from Carlton & Stillington Post Offices or from members of the History Group. Alternatively contact Linda on 01740 630014.
